Renault 4 is supplied with a type 2 cable for use with home, business and public charging stations, so you can charge in any situation. Other cables are available as an option.

Type 2 cable available as standard: charging at private or public charging points

ideal for everyday use, charge Renault 4 simply with the mode 3 type 2 cable:

  •  home or workplace charging: 7.4 kW AC terminal (single-phase)
  • public charging point: 22 kW AC (three-phase) public charging station with a maximum power of 11 kW

FAQ

How do you charge an electric vehicle?

Domestic and public charging stations use alternating current (AC), while fast-charging stations, often located on motorways, supply direct current (DC).

As the vehicle’s battery operates on direct current, the onboard charger converts alternating current into direct current when your car is plugged into a conventional terminal.

How do you charge an electric vehicle at home?

At home, simply install a reinforced socket or charging station to charge your vehicle using the Type 2 cable supplied. For occasional use, you can also charge from a household socket using the optional FlexCharger cable.

What type of electric current at home?

The home charging station must be either 7.4 kW AC single-phase or 11 kW AC 3-phase. Suitable cables are type 2 or Flexicharger, the latter being designed for reinforced household sockets.

How can you get a charging terminal installed in your home?

By consulting your Renault dealer, you can benefit from Mobilize Power Solutions’ expertise to choose the charging solution best suited to your needs and your vehicle. Your dealer will help you install and use the charging station. The terminal can be ordered at the same time as your electric vehicle.

In the centre of the long, sloping bonnet, two fins channel the airflow and minimise the frontal surface area, optimising efficiency and aesthetics.

To maximise aerodynamic efficiency, two side cameras replace the rearview mirrors. They are integrated into the wheel arches, the area that generates the least airflow disturbance.

The bumper is adorned with two vents that extend behind the wheels, guiding air along the front doors. No more air turbulence behind the front wheels: aerodynamic penetration is improved. At the base of the bumper, active grills open and close to supply the intercoolers with optimal airflow.

The roofline naturally draws air towards the large rear spoiler. The floor pan is completely flat. Under the rear bumper, a dynamic diffuser balances the upper and lower air flows to minimise aerodynamic drag.

To optimise aerodynamics, nothing has been left to chance: windshield wipers concealed under the bonnet, touch-sensitive door handles, curved roof pillars, seamless flush glass, and tall, narrow, low-rolling-resistance tyres.

After detecting that there is a big enough parking space for Renault Rafale, it sets the vehicle’s trajectory and then takes control of the steering. You retain control of the accelerator and braking.

With the help of the sensor, the system warns the driver any potential collisions, whether with pedestrians, cyclists, or motorcyclists. It does this by calculating the distance between Renault Rafale and the vehicle in front. The driver can then apply the brakes, but if the system still detects a risk of collision, the brake force is increased. If the driver fails to react, the system applies the brakes automatically.

intersection automatic emergency braking

At intersections, the system calculates the distance between Renault Rafale and oncoming or intersecting vehicles, alerting the driver in the event of a potential collision. The driver can then apply the brakes, but if the system still detects a risk of collision, the brake force is increased. If the driver fails to react, the system applies the brakes automatically.

E-Tech full hybrid powertrain in detail

The E-Tech full hybrid 200 hp powertrain provides a smooth, responsive driving experience. You have the option to go fully electric, in hybrid mode (electric + combustion), or with the combustion engine alone. And with the smart gearbox, switching is fully automated. The powertrain is comprised of:

  • a 3-cylinder, 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine, with 130 hp (96 kW) and 205 Nm of torque.
  • a main electric motor with 50 kW (70 hp) and 205 Nm of torque for electric driving.
  • an electric 2-kWh battery that charges automatically during deceleration and braking.

The 4Control advanced system significantly enhances handling at low speeds, as well as agility and performance at medium to high speeds. Paired with the multi-arm rear suspension, the steering is sharp and reassuring, handling bends and turns with precision.

When you drive at low speeds or manoeuvre, 4Control advanced directs the rear wheels up to 5° in the opposite direction of the front wheels, for a turning circle comparable to that of a city car. Above 50 km/h, the rear wheels pivot up to 1° to improve the stability of Renault Rafale on fast corners.

manoeuvres and parking

In town, the 10.4-m turning circle rivals that of a city car. To facilitate parking manoeuvres, the rear wheels turn up to 5°.

improved road-holding

When cornering at more than 50 km/h, all 4 wheels turn in the same direction to improve road-holding. The front wheels turn up to 35° and the rear wheels turn up to 1°, providing greater stability through turns.
