advanced driver-assistance systems

Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are intelligent systems that rely on advanced technologies (radars, software, cameras, etc.) to assist the driver on journeys, making driving simpler and safer. They can be divided into 3 main categories:

driving: various technologies make driving easier and safer, for greater peace of mind
parking: systems make manoeuvres easier, while protecting the vehicle and its environment
safety: the systems analyse driving conditions, warn the driver of any risks and take action if danger is imminent

driver-assistance systems

speed limiter

It helps prevent speeding on the road. You set the maximum speed limit and Renault 5 ensures it is respected.
cruise control

It keeps Renault 5 at the desired speed so you can enjoy comfortable motorway driving.
adaptative cruise control

It adjusts Renault 5’s speed according to your preferences and traffic. The cruise control applies the brakes when the distance from the vehicle in front is too short and accelerates when the road is clear.
intelligent adaptive cruise control

In addition to the adaptive cruise control, it analyses road conditions (such as dangerous bends, roundabouts, etc.) to proactively adjust Renault 5’s speed.
active driver assist

The system combines intelligent adaptive cruise control with the Stop & Go feature and lane centering. It adjusts Renault 5’s speed according to the traffic, maintaining a safe distance, and ensures you keep to your lane. If traffic slows down, Renault 5 stops, and starts again automatically when the lane is clear.
distance warning

Renault 5’s front sensor calculates the safe distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance is too short and there is a risk of collision, the system triggers an audible and visual alert.
hill start assist

The system activates when Renault 5 needs to start on a slope greater than 3%. The brake is then maintained for 2 seconds to allow acceleration without the risk of rolling backwards.
switch between main/dipped beam headlights

The system analyses light conditions and traffic around Renault 5, automatically switching between main beam and dipped beam to enhance driving comfort.

eco -driving assistant

It analyses the road ahead (bends, roundabouts, etc.) and displays a specific icon when it's the ideal moment to lift off the accelerator. The aim is to reach the right speed while reducing fuel consumption and keeping the drive smooth

park assist

rear park assist

Renault 5’s rear sensors trigger audible and visual warnings to indicate the presence of any obstacles behind the vehicle.
front park assist

Renault 5’s front radar sensors detect the proximity of any obstacles in front and inform you using both audible and visual alerts.
side park assist

The sensors assist your manoeuvres by providing audible and visual signals indicating the proximity of any obstacles to the side of Renault 5.
rear view camera

When you are in reverse gear, it displays a rear view of the surroundings behind Renault 5 on the screen. Guiding lines make your manoeuvres easier and safer.
hands-free parking

Once it identifies a suitable parking space, the system takes control of the steering, while you manage the speed of Renault 5, making parking effortless.

By recognising traffic signs, the system displays changes in speed limits on Renault 5’s screen and alerts the drier in case of speeding.
occupant safe exit alert

If a passenger opens one of Renault 5’s doors while another vehicle is approaching, the system alerts the driver of the danger with an audible and visual warning, along with a light in the wing mirror.
active emergency braking

The system detects vehicles approaching from the front or side. In case of danger, it stops Renault 5 to avoid any collision.
intersection automatic emergency braking system

It warns of the risk of imminent collision with oncoming vehicles, for example, when making a left turn at an intersection. If danger persists without a response, it automatically applies Renault 5’s brakes.
lane departure warning

If you unintentionally cross a solid or broken line, the system alerts the driver by vibrating Renault 5’s steering wheel.
lane keeping assist

The system automatically corrects the trajectory to bring Renault 5 back into its lane if the indicator has not been activated (from 70 km/h).
emergency stop assistant

In addition to active driver assist, the system will slow the vehicle down to a standstill in its lane (if possible) if the driver becomes unresponsive (hands not detected on the steering wheel).
advanced driver monitoring system

Using an interior camera, the Renault 5 system monitors the driver for signs of fatigue or drowsiness. If a lack of vigilance is detected, it issues an alert, recommending a break to ensure safer driving.

Prevents the risk of multi-vehicle collisions by automatically activating the brakes after a collision. The system helps prevent or mitigate the severity of a secondary collision that may occur if you lose control of Renault 5.

Qrescue

QRescue: a time-saving QR code

Placed as a standard feature on both the windscreen and rear window of Renault 5, this QR code helps the emergency services to swiftly access the car’s technical details with just a quick scan, potentially saving up to 15 minutes of intervention time.

Safety score, for safer driving

The system analyses the speed, trajectory and safe distance data transmitted during trips in Renault 5. It displays the driver’s score, between 0 and 100, after each journey. The safety coach can then provide personalised advice to help make your driving safer.

Renault has been a key player in safety for over 50 years and is constantly innovating and improving the passive safety of its models. With its “human first program”, Renault improves the safety of all road users on a daily basis. To date, the Group has helped reduce the number of road casualties fivefold.

For enhanced passenger protection in case of a collision, Renault 5 is equipped with multiple airbags in the cabin: – front driver and passenger airbags – side curtain airbags covering front and rear seats – central side airbag to safeguard the space between the two front occupants

Fix4sure

It prevents the “submarining effect” (the pelvis slipping under the lap belt), in the event of frontal collision, through a specially designed seat frame and low-positioned seatbelt buckles. A made-in-Renault solution.

The structure’s materials are designed to offer high energy absorption capacity, reducing the risk of severe structural deformation in the event of frontal, rear or side impact.
