one-pedal
the new electric driving experience
What is the one-pedal function?
No need to alternate between the accelerator and brake!
The one-pedal function simplifies urban driving by allowing you to control acceleration and braking with a single pedal. When you release the accelerator, the vehicle gradually slows to a complete stop, offering a smoother, more intuitive ride.
the benefits of the one-pedal function
driving comfort
With the primary use of the accelerator, the one-pedal function makes for smoother, less effortful driving. It’s ideal for everyday urban driving, especially in heavy traffic.
optimised driving range
The one-pedal function is the maximum level of regenerative braking, optimising energy recovery with each deceleration.
reduced brake wear
With regenerative braking, brake pads and discs are subjected to less stress, and wear less quickly, reducing wear-related costs.
one-pedal, how does it work?
use
Using the steering wheel-mounted paddles, you can adjust the intensity of regenerative braking, with the one-pedal function as the maximum level.

accelerating
Press the accelerator pedal sufficiently to pick up speed.

slowing down
Release the pedal gradually: the further you release it, the greater the deceleration.

stopping
Release the accelerator pedal completely to bring your vehicle to a halt.
how it works
One-pedal is an advanced regenerative braking feature, activated during deceleration to make driving smoother and more efficient.

how does regenerative braking work?
When you slow down, regenerative braking converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy into electricity. Instead of being dissipated as heat, as with conventional brakes, this energy is recovered by the electric motor and fed back into the battery.
In other words, the energy recovery system allows the electric battery to recharge during deceleration or when the brake pedal is applied, optimising the electric vehicle’s range.
compatible vehicles
The one-pedal function is available, depending on your model and version(1), on our electric vehicles equipped with regenerative braking with steering wheel-mounted paddles.

Renault 4 E-Tech electric
your questions about one-pedal
The one-pedal function is available depending on the model and production year of your electric vehicle:
- Renault 4 E-Tech electric starting from the techno version
For vehicles eligible for retrofit, if your vehicle meets these criteria, you can activate one-pedal when you next visit the Renault network, or via remote update (FOTA) if your vehicle is compatible.
The one-pedal function is particularly effective in town and in traffic jams, where it reduces the need to alternate between the gas pedal and the brake, offering a smoother, less tiring ride. It’s also ideal for downhill driving, as it allows you to better manage your speed with gradual deceleration.
On roads and motorways, the function can be used, but needs to be adapted for harder braking, particularly to ensure optimum control at higher speeds.
The one-pedal function is an additional driver-assistance system that does not replace driver vigilance. The driver must always remain in control of the vehicle, especially when emergency braking is required.
To manage your driving with the one-pedal function:
- anticipate slowdowns by adjusting throttle pressure,
- adapt your driving to the type of road and traffic conditions,
- keep in mind that the brake pedal remains available when needed (for harder or emergency braking).
Good to know: when reversing, the one-pedal function goes into standby mode and its indicator light turns grey. The function reactivates automatically in position D (drive) as soon as you exceed a certain speed threshold, and the icon turns blue to confirm its activation.
